Balboa Island Parade

DATE: Sunday, June 6, 2010

TIME: Check-in between 9:30-10:00 AM, on the sidewalk directly across from the Pavilions on Bayside Drive, parade runs from- 11:00 AM-2:00 PM

The Newport Beach CERT and RACES volunteer teams have a joint entry in the annual Balboa Island parade.  This is the second year the CERT/RACES teams have participated and this is a great opportunity to highlight both programs to the Newport Beach community.  CERT volunteers are needed to march in the parade and to staff the CERT information booth outside the Balboa Island Fire Station.  If you would like to assist at the Balboa Island parade, email nbcert@nbfd.net or call (949) 644-3112, please specify if you would like to walk in the parade or staff the CERT booth and your availability times.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring their friends, family, and neighbors to enjoy the parade.

American Red Cross Shelter Training class

DATE: Saturday, July 17, 2010

TIME: 8:00 AM-6:00 PM

LOCATION: City of Fullerton Fire Department, 1580 W. Commonwealth Ave., Fullerton, CA

In conjunction with the American Red Cross and CMAP (CERT Mutual Aid Project), the City of Fullerton is hosting a Shelter training class on July 17, 2010.  This training class is a pre-requisite for all CERT volunteers that would like to be CERT mutual aid providers.  CERT Participants will learn about Red Cross policies and procedures for setting up, running and closing a shelter following an unexpected disaster.

CERT Volunteer Hours Portal

The new web-based CERT volunteer hours portal is up and running.  All CERT volunteers are encouraged to log-in and record all their CERT volunteer hours for 2010.  For more information on the web-portal and how to log your CERT volunteer hours email nbcert@nbfd.net.
