Green on Green-Disaster Preparedness Expo- Saturday, September 9th- CERT Volunteers needed

Newport Beach CERT volunteers,

We hope that you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend.  Listed below are some upcoming CERT volunteer opportunities and events. If you are interested in assisting at any CERT events or have any questions about the program please email nbcert@nbfd.net

CERT Master Calendar

Annual Green on Green/Disaster Preparedness Expo- Saturday, September 9

The Newport Beach Fire Department has again partnered with the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce to host the annual Green on Green/Disaster Preparedness Expo on Saturday, September 9 from 11:00 am-3:00 pm at the Newport Beach Civic Center Green. We are in need of 30-40 CERT volunteers to assist at the event and there are three volunteer shifts: Shift #1- 9:00 am-4:00 pm, Shift #2-9:00 am-noon, Shift #3- noon-4:00 pm.  Lunch will be provided for all CERT volunteers that assist at the Expo.  All CERT volunteers are encouraged to attend the event and to wear their CERT green vests, regardless of whether they can volunteer to assist during one of the shifts. CERT American Heart Association CPR/AED class-Tuesday, September 19

The Fire Department will hold an American Heart Association CPR/AED class on Tuesday, September 19 from 6:00-8:30pm at Fire Station #7 (20401 Acacia).  The class will be taught by some of our new CERT CPR instructors.  The class is limited to Newport Beach CERT volunteers only and a maximum of 20 participants.  The cost of the class is $20 which can be payable by check at the class.  If you would like to register for this class, email nbcert@nbfd.net .   

CERT booth for Boys and Girls Club event- Saturday, September 23

The Boys and Girls Club of Newport Beach has requested a fire department informational booth for Saturday, September 23 from 11:00 am-3:00 pm at the Newport Beach Boys and Girls Club. If you would like to assist with this promotional booth, we are in need of CERT volunteers who can assist from 10:30 am-3:30 pm and to volunteer for the entire shift. If interested, please email nbcert@nbfd.net .

Newport Beach Fire Service Open House- Sunday, October 8

The Newport Beach Fire Department will have a Fire Service Open House on Sunday, October 8 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm at Fire Station #7 (20401 Acacia).  CERT volunteers are needed to assist with the event and the CERT/Community Preparedness informational booth.  If you are interested in assisting, CERT volunteers are needed from 10:30 am-2:30 pm and lunch will be provided.  All CERT volunteers, their friends, family and neighbors are encouraged to come by to learn about everything the fire department does.  If you would like to volunteer at the Open House, please email nbcert@nbfd.net .

CERT Mandatory Recertification classes

The last remaining two mandatory CERT recertification classes are listed below. As a reminder, if you would like to remain active with the Newport Beach CERT program you are required to attend one of the last remaining classes. Thank you to the over 380 CERT volunteers that have already attended one of the first five classes. If you cannot attend one of the remaining classes and would still like to remain active with the Newport Beach CERT program, please email nbcert@nbfd.net .

Class #6: Thursday, October 26, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Newport Beach Fire Station #7 Training Room

Class #7: Monday, November 13, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Newport Beach Fire Station #7 Training Room (Final class offered)

The classes listed above will be the only two remaining CERT recertification classes offered in 2017. You must register at least one week prior to whatever recertification class you would like to attend. To register or for additional information, please email nbcert@nbfd.net .
