About Residential Zone 2 - Newport Heights -NHHS

The RESIDENTIAL ZONE 2 PARKING PERMIT entitles a motor vehicle to occupy a single parking space in Residential Zone 2 - Newport Heights in excess of 2 hours, if space is available.  Parking shall be restricted to a two hour limit on signed streets in the Newport Heights area, on school days from September through June each school year, except by vehicles displaying permit.  On Margaret Drive, parking is restricted to one hour from 8:00am to 6:00pm every day except federal holidays, except by vehicles displaying this permit.  This permit is available to Newport Beach residents who reside in Zone 2 only.  The 2023/2024 blue parking permit will be valid through 9/30/2024. 2023/2024 permits on sale now.      

The permit does not allow violation of any other parking regulations.  The City has a 72 hour parking ordinance which does not allow the parking of vehicles on any public street or public parking lot for 72 consecutive hours or more.  Permit holders are not exempt from this ordinance.  

This permit is not valid on a motor vehicle that is 84 inches or more in width or more than 84 inches in height or more than 22 feet in length.  

Parking permit and parking restriction is effective from September through June on school days each school year. The price for a permanent or guest permit is $19 each.  Residents are not required to buy a permit.  The permits available are “guest” (which is a transferable hang tag that is meant for houseguests and service people) or “permanent” (not transferable bumper sticker exclusively for resident).  The City is not responsible for a permit that is lost or stolen.  Replacement fee for lost or stolen permit is $19 each.

Proof of residence in Zone 2 is required at the time of purchase.  You may present as proof: a driver’s license, recent utility bill, rental agreement, etc.  These documents can be attached to online order at website.

A maximum of three permits can be purchased per residence. This can be in any combination of bumper stickers or hang tags.  Vehicle information is required for permanent bumper sticker permit.  You will need to provide: license plate, make, color and year of vehicle.

Permit Placement: Permits must be properly displayed to be valid.  Vehicles may be subject to citation if the permit is not clearly visible or not permanently affixed. 

Guest Permit - Hang Tag must hang on inside rearview mirror; do not obstruct view of permit, do not lay on dash. 

Permanent Permit - Bumper Sticker must be permanently affixed to the left (driver’s side) of rear bumper.
