Welcome to the Community Development Department
The Community Development Department administers the City's land use policies, including the general plan, zoning, building, subdivision, and environmental regulations, to ensure the orderly physical growth of the community. Program activities range from advance and current planning to building permit inspection, economic development, and code enforcement. The Department also oversees the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The range of services encompass revitalization of targeted areas, retaining and attracting businesses to Newport Beach, creating and maintaining residential neighborhoods to ensure that Newport Beach provides safe, economically vital and aesthetically pleasing places in which to live, work, and visit. The Department consists of the following divisions:
