DESCRIPTION:The City tests its <A href="https://newportbeachca.gov/government/departments/fire/fire-prevention-division/disaster-preparedness/emergency-notification-systems">Outdoor Emergency Notification System </A>on the first Friday of every month at 12 p.m. for a brief period of time at a reduced sound level. When activated for actual emergency notifications, the sirens will sound for an extended time at a much higher sound level. <BR>    <BR>    The system consists of three emergency warning sirens that are connected to a control panel located at the Newport Beach Police Department. Each siren is approximately four feet high and is mounted on a blue, 50-foot pole. The sirens have been strategically placed in order for emergency signals to be heard in West Newport, along the Balboa Peninsula, and at Big Corona Beach.
