Preschool Graduation

Preschool 101

Effective, June 7, 2024, the City has decided to discontinue offering the Preschool 101 program. Unfortunately, the program has seen a steady decline in the school-year enrollment since the increase in local preschool and TK programming. Summer Preschool 101 Pint-Sized Campers at Newport Coast will continue to run each summer, as it remains a valued and popular program.

The City and school district do offer preschool programming and resources listed below.

Programming and Resources:

City of Newport Beach -

OC Tiny Tots Academy – Preschool

Newport-Mesa Unified School District -

Make a positive impact in your community! Give your college résumé a boost! Join a forum to express your opinions, creativity, and civic mindedness. Mayor’s Youth Council is an unpaid internship program comprised of three different parts; education, service and outreach.

SERVICE
Every year, Youth Council creates and partakes in charitable works that improve their community. In 2019/2020 Every member hosted a toy and food drive to gather items to donate for the OC Thanksgiving Basket Brigade. Donations were sorted and organized into baskets for deserving families in Orange County. Volunteers also delivered the baskets the same day, so they had it in time for Thanksgiving.

EDUCATION
This unpaid internship is an educational tool to help students learn, in depth, about the different careers offered within Newport Beach. Members will then use their acquired experience and knowledge to better inform their community and govern the Mayor’s Youth Council events and projects..

OUTREACH
Youth Council members will be involved in the planning, organization and implementation of events such as recreation special events and community outreach to share their knowledge with their peers.

PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
A select number of individuals will begin the program in October 2023 and shall continue through August 29, 2024. The program includes attending all four Mayor’s Youth Council meetings, events, projects and four informative sessions with City of Newport Beach staff.

Applications and Guidelines due Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
