City Calendar

The Newport Beach Public Library hosts outstanding classical and instrumental music and performers throughout the year. The monthly hour-long Sunday Musicales are held at 3 p.m. in the Friends Meeting Room at the Central Library. Admission is free.

Classical saxophonist Sophia Flores and pianist Andrew Edwards will be performing music significant to the Holocaust, including works by Jacobi, Ullmann, Gebirtig, Messiaen, Schulhoff and others. This performance is in remembrance of the six million murdered Jews, who used music as an outlet for resistance and hope, even when their music was silenced.
