Listed below are some of the upcoming CERT volunteer events, meetings and trainings. To register for any of the classes listed below or for additional information, please email nbcert@nbfd.net .
CERT Quarterly "All Hands" Meeting- next Monday, May 8th
DATE/TIME: Monday, May 8th at 6:30 pm
PLACE: Newport Beach Central Library Friends Room (1000 Avocado)
The second CERT quarterly "All Hands" meeting will have speakers from Southern California Edison and the Newport Beach Lifeguard department. Southern California Edison will be discussing electrical safety as it pertains to disaster preparedness and Newport Beach lifeguards will present on beach safety. The quarterly CERT "All Hands" meetings are open to CERT volunteers and anyone interested in disaster preparedness. No registration is required to attend.
CERT Mutual Aid class
DATE/TIME: Saturday, May 13th, 9:00 am-2:00 pm
PLACE: Newport Beach Fire Station #7 training room (20401 Acacia, Newport Beach)
The fire department will host a CERT Mutual Aid class on Saturday, May 13th from 9:00 am-2:00 pm at fire station #7. The class is open to all Newport Beach CERT volunteers. This class is for CERT volunteers that are interested in becoming certified Orange County CERT Mutual Aid volunteers. There are no requirements to attend the class. This class is only offered once a year in Newport Beach. You must register to attend this class.
CERT Mandatory Recertification classes
The remaining four mandatory CERT recertification classes are listed below:
Class #4: Wednesday, May 17th, 6:30-8:30 pm at Newport Beach Fire Station #7 Training Room
Class #5: Wednesday, June 7, 10:00 am-noon at Newport Beach Fire Station #7 Training Room
Class #6: Thursday, October 26, 1:00-3:00 pm at Newport Beach Fire Station #7 Training Room
Class #7: Monday, November 13, 6:30-8:30 pm at Newport Beach Fire Station #7 Training Room (Final class offered)
The classes listed above will be the only remaining CERT recertification classes offered in 2017. All Newport Beach CERT volunteers that would like to remain active with the CERT program are required to attend one of the recertification classes listed above. You must register at least one week prior to whatever recertification class you would like to attend. To register or for additional information, please email nbcert@nbfd.net.
