Final Adopted and Certified 6th Cycle Housing Element
Since the middle of 2020, City staff and its consultant team worked with the Housing Element Update Advisory Committee (HEUAC), Planning Commission, City Council, and the community to prepare an update to the Housing Element.
On September 13, 2022, the Newport Beach City Council adopted the 6th Cycle Housing Element for the 2021-2029 planning cycle in response to the Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) allocation of 4,845 new housing units for Newport Beach. On October 5, 2022, the City received a letter from HCD certifying the City's Housing Element as being in full compliance with State Housing Element Law. You can view that letter by clicking here.
On September 24, 2024, the City Council adopted a narrowly focused amendment to the Housing Element, which revised portions of Sections 3 and 4, as initiated through Resolution No. 2024-58, and as adopted by Resolution No. 2024-73.
