Fair Housing
Federal and State laws prohibit discrimination in the sale, rental, leasing, negotiation, advertising, and financing of housing based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, handicap, familial status, marital status, age, disability, ancestry, sexual orientation, source of income or any other arbitrary reason, as well as acts of hatred, violence and harassment.
Fair housing enforcement and landlord/tenant mediation services are available for tenants, realtors, apartment owners and managers, lending institutions and other interested parties within the City. Each year, the City allocates CDBG funds for this purpose as required by law. Effective July 1, 2011, the City has contracted with the Fair Housing Foundation for these services, which are provided free of cost. For more information, or to utilize these services, please contact the Fair Housing Foundation.
