Fire Operations' Role

The Fire Operations Division is the largest of four divisions within the Newport Beach Fire Department. The primary responsibilities of its personnel are life safety, incident stabilization, and the preservation of property and the environment. The Newport Beach Fire Department prides itself on operating as an "all risk" emergency responsible organization responding to:

Fire Personnel

The Fire Department staffs eight-fire stations 24/7. The stations are strategically located throughout the city to provide the quickest and most effective response to the area served, with an average response time of five minutes. Fire Department daily staffing, per shift, includes:

           

             

1 - Battalion Chief 

           10 - Fire Apparatus Engineers
10 - Fire Captains

 

10 - Paramedic/Firefighters
  6 - Firefighters

Note: Strike team responds to requests for mutual aid throughout the state to fight wildland fires or other types of emergencies.

Apparatus

The front line apparatus currently serving the City includes:

 

 

8 Fire Engines
(one at each fire station)
                                2 Aerial Ladder Trucks
(one on each side of the City)
                                 3 Paramedic
Rescue Ambulances

Note: During peak activity, two Surge Ambulances are staffed by truck personnel for increased ambulance transport capability.
