Don Quixote for Kids
Saturday, March 25, 12 p.m., Civic Center GreenJoin the gallant Don Quixote on his knightly quests across old-world Spain in Festival Ballet Theatre’s shortened rendition of this beloved ballet, based on the novel by Miguel Cervantes.
The Don Quixote ballet is an adventurous introduction to Spanish literature, music, culture, and history. Bring a picnic and your beach chairs for this special spring event. No alcohol is permitted. Parking and admission are free. This outdoor performance is supported by the City Arts Commission and will be held on the Civic Green.

Grammy nominated cellist Aristides Rivas is a founding member of the fusion world music band Voci Angelica Trio. He has performed at a wide range of international music venues and festivals such as Caramoor Music Festival, Tanglewood, Carnegie Hall, Newport Jazz Festival, the Barbican in England, Sejong Center in South Korea, and Teatro Colon in Argentina, among others. Rivas is a specialist in El Sistema-inspired youth music programs and has presented at international conferences throughout the world. Rivas is a cello faculty at California Baptist University.
Beethoven and Rachmaninoff are two of the most iconic composers of the romantic period. This program will feature two sonatas for cello and piano by these masters. They provide a window into their extreme genius, love, and darkness
