Don Quixote for Kids

Saturday, March 25, 12 p.m., Civic Center Green

Join the gallant Don Quixote on his knightly quests across old-world Spain in Festival Ballet Theatre’s shortened rendition of this beloved ballet, based on the novel by Miguel Cervantes.

The Don Quixote ballet is an adventurous introduction to Spanish literature, music, culture, and history. Bring a picnic and your beach chairs for this special spring event. No alcohol is permitted. Parking and admission are free. This outdoor performance is supported by the City Arts Commission and will be held on the Civic Green.

Black Canary is a contemporary improvising string ensemble that combines their varied and timeless repertoire of classical, jazz, pop, folk and world music in an acoustic or electric setting. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Pacific Symphony: Symphony in the Cities

This free outdoor concert, presented by the City of Newport Beach and Pacific Symphony as part of the Symphony in the Cities series, will feature a variety of popular classics and rousing patriotic tunes. The concert will be held on the Civic Green in front of the Newport Beach Public Library entrance. Bring low-back chairs, blankets, and a picnic dinner, or purchase food from one of the food trucks on-site. Come early so children can participate in the Musical Playground activities preceding the concert.

Musical Playground: Family activities and local music acts begin at 5:30 p.m.

The Musical Playground features many interactive and hands-on activities for children, including instrument making, a drum circle, an instrument petting zoo, and an opportunity to meet the musicians.

Pacific Symphony concert begins at 7 p.m.: Conducted by Maestro Carl St.Clair

This special concert is presented by the Newport Beach City Arts Commission and Pacific Symphony with sponsorship by City National Bank.

Free parking available on-site.
