The Accounting Division serves as the City’s official financial recordkeeper, responsible for documenting and reporting operational results and the City’s financial position at the end of each fiscal year. The Division oversees core functions including general accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll, and audit coordination.

In this role, the Division ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) by monitoring and implementing new accounting standards. It also manages key financial processes such as internal controls over cash and investments, general ledger maintenance, capital asset and debt administration, assessment district accounting, and the tracking of reserves, designations, grants, and other restricted funds. In addition, the Division processes the City’s biweekly payroll, including payroll tax reporting and the issuance of annual Form W-2s.

This site provides access to important financial information, including budget documents, audited financial statements (Annual Comprehensive Financial Report), Single Audit reports, and investor information related to the City’s long-term obligations.
