Active Kids
Active Kids after school program is for youth in grades TK-6. Enjoy time with your friends in planned indoor and outdoor activities, homework assistance, and creative arts.
Program Details: Monday- Friday. From school dismissal to 6:00pm (Includes early-outs and non-student days). All sites are CLOSED on NMUSD holidays. Non-Student Days will be open at one site, TBA.
Fee: $395 per trimester; $1185 per school year
Locations: Newport Elementary, CYC (Grant Howald Park), Mariners (Mariners Library-VJC Room)

Summer Day Camp
Summer is here! Spend a memorable summer with us and enjoy great experiences, new friends, and exciting activities. Camp fee includes crafts, activities, and walking excursions to the beach. CYC campers will take a .75 mile walk to CDM State Beach on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Newport El campers will walk to the beach on Mondays & Thursdays and the bay on Tuesdays & Fridays. Summer Day Camp is led by trained and enthusiastic Assistant Recreation Coordinators and Senior Recreation Leaders who are First Aid and CPR certified.
Ages: Campers must be entering grades 1-7 for the 2025-2026 school year.
Camps are held Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- Resident fee: $181/week (*Week 4: $146)
- Non-resident fee: $191/week (*Week 4: $156)

Preschool: Pint-Sized Summer Camp
Preschoolers, get ready for some summer-time fun! The Pint-Sized Summer Camp will provide a constructive and unique experience for children ages 3 to 5. The half-day program is filled with fun activities such as art, music, water games, outdoor time, special visitors, and more! Pint-Sized Camp is led by a trained and enthusiastic Assistant Recreation Coordinator and Senior Recreation Leaders who are First Aid and CPR certified. Campers must be potty-trained, no pull-ups allowed.
Pint-Sized Summer Camp is Monday - Thursday from 9:15 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., held at the Newport Coast Community Center.

Teen Leader Program
The City of Newport Beach Recreation Department offers a Teen Leader Program for ages 13-15. The Teen Leader Program allows teens to volunteer alongside Recreation Staff in the cities Summer Day Camps, Pint-Sized Camp, Marina Park Sailing & Boating Center, and other City events. While earning community service credits, this program also allows teens to be involved in the community, develop and enhance life (work) skills, and gain valuable job experience.
The Teen Leader Program provides hands on experiences, mentorship, and resume building exercises. Staff will emphasize leadership development, teamwork, and professionalism, as teens are provided with an opportunity to develop and enhance like (work) skills, while gaining valuable job experience.
Application: 2025 Teen Leader Program Application
Process:
- Complete a Teen Leader Application by Thursday, May 1, 2025.
- Qualified applicants may be interviewed, and the top candidates will be selected to join the Teen Leader Program.
- Selected teens will undergo a background check, register online, and pay a $200 program fee to volunteer for 2025
