Dr. MacGregor will present an overview of current CRISPR-based genome-editing technologies along with examples of their utility, including the treatment of genetic and infectious diseases. He will also highlight possibilities and challenges associated with implementation of CRISPR technology.

Dr. Grant MacGregor earned his D.Phil. from Sussex University. After post-doctoral work in human genetics, gene therapy and developmental biology at Baylor College of Medicine, he established a research lab at Emory University. In 2002, he moved his lab to UC Irvine. His research focuses on the causes of human genetic diseases and age-related conditions using genetically engineered mice.
