Novelists, poets, historians, journalists, biographers, memoirists and more share their ideas firsthand with our community. Participate, engage, and be challenged by our presentations with today’s most gifted scribes.

Colm Tóibín is a renowned Irish writer known for his extensive body of work, including fiction, nonfiction, drama, and poetry. His latest novel, Long Island, is a New York Times bestseller and continues the story of Eilis Lacey from his acclaimed book Brooklyn, which received multiple awards and was adapted into a film. Tóibín's notable works include The Master, which explores the life of Henry James, and The Magician, a portrayal of Thomas Mann, both of which have earned critical acclaim. He has received numerous literary awards, served as the Laureate for Irish Fiction, and is a professor at Columbia University. Tóibín's writing often delves into themes of Irish society, exile, Catholicism, and personal identity. In addition to novels, he has written essays, edited collections, and staged plays, showcasing his diverse literary contributions.
