Mayor Nancy Gardner invites local paddle boarders (and kayakers, canoeists, outrigger enthusiasts, etc.) to join her as she paddles through Newport Harbor on Saturday, October 13 at 9 a.m. Participants must provide their own watercraft and safety equipment.
The plan is to take off from China Cove Beach promptly at 9 a.m., paddle around Balboa Island, and end back at China Cove. Paddle boarders are welcome to join her from the start or join in along her route. The Mayor estimates that she will pass -
- Bayside Beach at approximately 9:10 - 9:15 a.m.
- The public pier on Little Balboa Island at approximately 9:25 - 9:30 a.m.
- The Balboa Island pier at about 9:45 - 9:50 a.m., and so on as she loops back to China Cove.
The paddle will last approximately 1 1/2 hours and light refreshments will be served on the beach at China Cove when the group returns.
Please note: On-street parking near China Cove is limited and visitors may find the closest available parking on Ocean Drive. For participants that prefer to park close to their launch site, an alternative launch and parking location is Bayside Beach. (Please see maps below.) Participants that launch from Bayside Beach can join the Mayor as she passes by the location at approximately 9:10- 9:15 a.m.
