Councilmember Michelle Barto (2028)

Councilmember Barto

Councilmember Michelle Barto was elected to the Newport Beach City Council in November 2024. She represents District 2 (Newport Heights, West Cliff, Newport Shores, and West Newport).

 Michelle is a dedicated community leader and advocate with a track record of meaningful action to improve   safety, quality of life, and preserve the beauty of our harbor.

 As a Trustee on the Newport-Mesa Unified School District Board of Education from 2018-2024, Michelle   prioritized school safety, enhanced facilities maintenance programs, and expanded opportunities for student academic success. During her tenure, she led as NMUSD Board President, Orange County School Board's Association President, and as a California School Board's Association Delegate. She also served as a board member on the Coastline Regional Occupation Program, championing career-focused education.

In addition to her education leadership, Michelle continues to contribute to the community through various roles:

  • Governor, Balboa Bay Club Board of Governors
  • Board Member, Pretend City Children's Museum
  • President, National Charity League Newport Chapter

Michelle is the Founder and Creative Director of Launch Creative, LLC, a boutique digital marketing agency specializing in data-driven and story-focused campaigns, helping businesses thrive in a competitive landscape.

Michelle is pleased to raise her four children in the same community in which she and her husband grew up. As a family, they are involved in the Assistance League of Newport-Mesa, Project Hope Alliance, and many other charity organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life for families. She enjoys skiing, sailing, going to the beach, and getting outside with her husband and kids.
