The creative young authors of Red Rocker’s Hairy Day and Izzy and The Candy Palace will share their story of how they wrote the books. The illustrator of the book, J.H. Everett, will show kids how to create their own illustrations in this fun, interactive event.
The authors were part of a program sponsored by The Candy Palace, a local organization that promotes the idea of children helping children through creative and artistic expression. Red Rocker’s Hairy Day and Izzy and The Candy Palace will be available for purchase and signing at the event. Profits from the sale of books will be donated to Kids Cafe program of The Second Harvest Food Bank.
J.H. Everett is a visual storyteller, writer, and creativity expert. Though he is now known for his work in children’s books, he has worked as a professional musician, composer, playwright, theater director, artist, teacher, and actor. He has created work for companies such as Christy Ottaviano/ Henry Holt Publishing, Scholastic Books, The Jim Henson Company, the MMJ Foundation, and the Los Angeles Times.
