Upstream: Music from Trinidad and Tobago
Back in Newport Beach by popular demand, Upstream, a band originating in the republic of Trinidad and Tobago, plays an energetic blend of “Island Music,” influenced by Reggae, Techno, Funk, Hip Hop and Soca.
Upstream includes three sons of the venerable originator of Soca music, the late Ras Shorty I. The group has been the opener for acts such as REM, Dave Matthews Band, The Wailers, Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Harvey Danger, Inner Circle, Wailing Souls and Jimmy Buffett to name a few.
