The City of Newport Beach and the Girl Scouts of Orange County will officially mark the start of construction on Marina Park with a ground breaking ceremony on Tuesday, February 11. Community members are welcome to attend.
The 10.5-acre, Marina Park site is located along the bay front on the Balboa Peninsula, between 15th and 18th Streets. The park will include a state-of-the-art Girl Scouts Leadership Center comprised of a nearly 4,200-square-foot building and a 1,900-square-foot patio; a 24,400-square-foot multi-purpose community and sailing program building; greater accessibility to a large, public bay front beach; a new visitor-serving marina consisting of 23 slips and a 200-foot-long side tie area; park amenities including basketball half-courts, a children’s play area and new restrooms; and a 177-space public parking area. Construction of Marina Park will be completed in the spring of 2016.
