The Newport Beach Public Library is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2013 Caldecott Medal, Jon Klassen, will be at the Central Library on Sunday, June 2 in a special program beginning at 1 p.m. The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. Klassen will talk about how he created the story and the illustrations in his winning book “This is Not My Hat” (Candlewick Press) and do some on-the-spot drawing to give children the feel for what it’s like to illustrate a book.
