Beach Maintenance crews are responsible for cleaning the City's nine miles of ocean and bay beaches, adjacent shorelines and the boardwalks. Staff cleans and maintains the fire rings located on both sides of Balboa Pier and at Corona del Mar State Beach. In addition, crews are responsible for maintaining flood control measures during high tide and rain events, as well has controlling sand levels against beach front homes and high pedestrian traveled areas to minimize hazards. Staff will also inspect bayside docks and both the Newport and Balboa piers, as well ask make repairs as needed. |

Concrete and Street Maintenance crews maintain a safe and secure concrete and pavement system for the community. This program is intended to prevent trip and fall incidents on sidewalks and ensure proper water flow in the gutters to the storm drain system. Crews follow guidelines to inspect, schedule and repair City streets, alleys and bike trails, as well as deteriorated or damaged sidewalks, curbs and gutters within the City's right-of-way. This also includes the maintenance of street signs, pavement markings, curb markings, street name signs and roadway striping.

Equipment Maintenance staff are responsible for maintaining approximately 380 pieces of equipment which makes up the City's vehicle fleet. This includes sedans, light- and heavy-duty trucks, fire trucks, paramedic vans, rescue boats, refuse trucks, street sweepers, utility and street maintenance trucks and off-highway equipment. |

Facilities Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance and repair of 34 public restrooms and over 70 City buildings. The facilities division maintains all service and repair for City buildings including, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, and fire detection-suppression. Public restrooms are open year-round and are serviced twice daily, with additional cleaning during peak spring and summer months.
